Gates in Santa Clara

The gate is the part of a fence you touch every day. We build gates that stay square, swing freely and latch the first time.

What gates do you install?

  • Side gates next to the garage, the most common gate on Santa Clara ranch homes.
  • Double gates wide enough for a trailer, a boat or yard equipment.
  • Driveway gates, swinging or sliding, with automatic openers if you want them.
  • Pool gates that are self-closing and self-latching.

Why do side gates sag?

Usually it is the hinge post. In clay soil that swells in winter and shrinks in summer, a shallow or undersized post slowly tilts, and the gate drops with it. We set gate posts deeper and heavier than line posts, brace the frame in the right direction and use adjustable hinges.

How much is a new gate?

Inch Calculator's fence cost guide lists basic gates at around $400 to $2,000 installed, and driveway or security gates at around $2,000 to $12,000. Size, material and automation make most of the difference.

Do automatic gates need anything special?

They need power at the gate, a safe opener with obstruction sensing, and often an electrical permit. We will tell you what your setup needs during the estimate.

What about pool gates?

A gate in a pool enclosure must open away from the pool and close and latch on its own, with the latch no lower than 60 inches above the ground, under California law. See pool fence rules in Santa Clara.
