Fence repair in Santa Clara

A leaning section or a gate that will not close does not always mean a new fence. We fix what can be fixed and tell you honestly when it cannot.

What do you repair?

  • Posts that have rotted or tilted in shifting clay soil.
  • Boards and rails that have split, warped or fallen off.
  • Sections blown over in winter storms.
  • Gates that have dropped, scrape the ground or swing open on their own.
  • Chain link with bent rails or loose fittings.

When does repair make more sense than replacement?

If a few posts have failed but most of the boards are solid, repair is usually the better value. If posts are soft along the whole run, the boards are brittle or the fence is near the end of its life, replacing it often costs less over time than patching it every year. We check the posts and show you what we see.

Why do fences lean in Santa Clara?

Much of the valley floor has expansive clay that swells when wet and shrinks as it dries. That movement works posts loose year after year. Daily sprinkler water at the fence line speeds up rot at the base. Good repairs set new posts deeper, in concrete, and move irrigation away from the fence.

Do I need my neighbor's agreement?

For a shared boundary fence, California presumes neighbors split reasonable repair and replacement costs unless they agreed otherwise in writing, and the owner starting the work must give 30 days' written notice. A written quote helps with that conversation.
